The State Championships were first played in the 1974-75 season as under 10 boys competition between tee-ball plyaers from the following baseball clubs:
The State Championships now are played over the March long weekend at Langley Park. More than 100 representative teams of both boys and girls, represent about 30 clubs from metropolitan and country regions, in 6 age groups and may divisions, play 5 one hour games.
At EHH we encourage our Teeballers to participate in State Champs as a way of further improving their skills in preparation for future diamond ball sports - baseball & softball. Each year we put forward a team to compete and in 2012/13 it was an U11's Team.
Children who enjoy their Teeball and have willingness to learn and improve on their ball skills and team work. At Hornets we will generally fill a U10's or U11's side depending upon interest.
Participating in the State Championships could not happen without parents's suppor for a range of roles including coaching (assistant, base coach), scoring, umpiring and team management, not to mention all the logistical management of getting 12 players and all their gear ready for each game!
In preparing for the State Championships carnival the team puts in extra training (generally Saturday morning) and also playing in 3 to 4 "pre-state" interclub carnivals in the Perth metro region.
What does this mean for you? Additional time commitment for your child to attend training, volunteering to take responsibility for one of the tema roles and your ongoing support during the carnivals.
If you have a child wanting to particpate please contact Roger Hillman - Teeball Chief Coach (see contact details links) as we are currently selecting team members!
